Year 11 Post-16 Choices

All young people must be in some form of education or recognised training until they are 18, and we have a duty as a school to make sure your child is supported to make the right choices.

When a child leaves Heartlands at 16, once they have completed their GCSE’s, they can

• Study full time education at a school or college e.g. A Levels or Vocational Qualifications;
• Start an apprenticeship or Traineeship;
• Be in part time education or training – this must be in addition to employment, self-employment or volunteering for a minimum of 20 hours per week.

How do we support your child to make the right Post 16 choices?

• A careers interview with our Careers Advisor, and bespoke support depending on need
• Post 16 live talks from local colleges and sixth forms
• Application Support
• Dedicated careers and pathways sessions during SEARCH days

• Access to the Post 16 Success Portal
